Identify the question each test answers
Durability tests address defined exposure and specimen conditions, while fire tests evaluate construction under specified fire conditions. Neither replaces the other. Read the specimen, exposure method, duration and acceptance criteria instead of relying only on a pass statement.
Size and restraint change service conditions
The sources discuss the gap between material specimens and installed architectural glazing. Pane weight, edge support and installation restraint should be considered alongside temperature and moisture. This concerns the relationship between different validation scopes; it does not imply that all tests use the same small specimens or diminish full-system testing.
Investigate changes without assuming a single cause
Bubbles, whitening or optical changes may involve materials, manufacture, handling, edge seals, installation or exposure. A mechanism discussed in an article cannot rule out a quality issue or assign responsibility by itself. Preserve records and investigate the particular product and conditions before deciding on cause and remedy.
Project review checklist
- Review fire and durability evidence separately and identify their scope.
- Include actual size, support, temperature, humidity and sunlight.
- Preserve evidence of anomalies for a coordinated technical investigation.
