What EI120 describes
Within the applicable classification system, EI120 identifies a 120-minute integrity and insulation classification. Integrity concerns phenomena such as penetration by flames and hot gases; insulation concerns unexposed-face temperature rise. Interpret the classification with the verified construction, not as a universal promise for glass independently of its framing.
Scope of the public test account
The KINGUARD and Vincent Liu accounts describe a system test in the context of Hong Kong International Airport’s third-runway project, discussing the glass, frame, seals and installation together. They report integrity and insulation performance through 120 minutes. This is an account of that test, not evidence that every available configuration has the same approval.
Turn footage into verifiable questions
Footage helps explain the procedure. Selection also requires the laboratory, date, standard, specimen description, exposure direction, dimensions and field of application. Identify deviations in framing, fixings or glass and obtain the relevant assessment. Evidence under EN or BS requirements does not automatically establish ASTM or UL approval.
