Review support and framing before glazing
Glass weight must transfer through the specified supports to the frame and building. Misalignment, incorrect support or local hard contact can introduce additional stress. Check the opening, frame condition, support positions and tolerances, using the materials and methods specified for the selected system.
Protect the edge and sealing continuity
Edges are vulnerable during handling and are central to retention, sealing and load transfer. Avoid impact, abrasion and unapproved edge processing. Follow product and system instructions for compatible sealants, application sequence and continuity; visual similarity is not evidence of interchangeability.
Include exposure and sequencing in the plan
Heat, sunlight and temporary storage may expose glass to conditions different from those in service. Include protection, lifting, temporary support and inspection stages in the installation plan. Record when and where any anomaly appears and seek coordinated supplier and installer review before altering the glazing.
Project review checklist
- Inspect edges, framing, supports and openings before installation.
- Confirm blocks, seals, fixings and sequence against system instructions.
- Keep delivery, installation and handover records for traceability.
